Nizar Rohana is a Palestinian ud musician who has been based in the Netherlands since 2013. He is distinguished for combining virtuosity within fresh contemporary compositions, while maintaining the characteristic language of the ud. Nizar comes from a musical family, and first picked up the ud when he was just thirteen. He has studied extensively, immersing himself in the works of both Western classical composers and the Arabic tradition. Over the past fifteen years Nizar has performed all around the world, as a soloist and with groups playing traditional, modern, experimental and world music. He has brought out two albums: in the most recent, Furāt (Euphrates), the music is inspired by flow of the river and its route past ancient civilisations and peoples.
