Iraqi-Hungarian Omar Bashir was born into an ud dynasty. His father, grandfather and several other family members were all leading ud musicians, and Omar is himself a versatile master player. On the one hand he keeps the classical Arabic music of his late father, Munir Bashir, very much alive, while on the other he works with musicians such as Quincy Jones and Jordi Savall. Together with Hungarian guitarists Andreas Karma and Balint Petz, Omar plays a sparkling combination of traditional Arabic music, Latin and Flamenco. He has toured extensively throughout Europe, America, the Maghreb and the Middle East, and has more than 20 albums to his name.
