U’Duet is made up of Palestinian-Dutch ud-player Haytham Safia and Sudanese percussionist Osama Mileegi, both of whom now live in the Netherlands. Haytham graduated from the Academy for Music and Dance in Jerusalem in 2002, and was soon coming up with innovative compositions that blend Arabic music with jazz, blues and classical Western traditions. He is known for his precise yet dynamic style, for his poetical lyricism and fluent technique. Osama graduated from the Khartoum Conservatory, and brings a brilliantly rhythmic touch to both African and Arabic percussion: a great support to Haytham’s style. Together they create a musical world in which classic Eastern and Western influences flow naturally together.
