The Ud Festival kicks off this evening with the Palestinian ud composer Kamilya Jubran. She grew up in a musical family, and studied classical Arabic music at the prestigious Jerusalem Conservatory. In addition to her renowned ud compositions, Jubran is known for the way in which she melds poetry and music. Her profound Arabic poetry is about love, resistance and tolerance. She has toured solo and with ensembles to European cities and through the Arab world for many years. For the Ud Festival, Jubran has made a special selection of the verse that has formed her, performing these unique poems accompanied by her ud.
This is a double programme, including the concert of Le Trio Joubran.
